Speed Breaker

A speed breaker, also known as a speed bump or traffic hump, is a traffic-calming device designed to slow down vehicles and improve safety on roads, especially in areas with high pedestrian traffic or residential neighborhoods. Typically made from rubber, asphalt, or concrete, speed breakers are placed across roadways to force drivers to reduce their speed to prevent accidents and enhance safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and other road users. They are commonly used near schools, parks, intersections, and housing areas, where the risk of high-speed accidents is greater. While effective in controlling speed, speed breakers are designed with a gradual slope to minimize discomfort for vehicles and ensure smooth passage at lower speeds. Their primary purpose is to balance the flow of traffic while prioritizing safety for all road users.
